One of the main silent killers in our American diet, in my humble opinion, is the oils we consume. I'm working on a really detailed article on oils, but I'll just say for now that many of the ones we consume daily are straight up bad for you. And yes, that includes Canola Oil, the oil that they are aggressively marketing as Omega-3 healthy. Remember they use to market cigarattes as healthy back in the 1920's and 30's………………
I consider both Canola and standard Corn Oil pure POISON. Hate to be so blunt or sound like the ultimate authority cuz' I'm not, but a lot of people's health issues are unknowingly because of these, and similar oils. Anyhoo, for those like me who use oils everyday in my salad and pasta dressings, there is a real quick fix to this issue. Make your own great tasting salad dressing in 30 seconds. (more…)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________My longtime friend and co- 'Food Revolutionary' Harry Bentley wrote an article for me, and I though it was a great article to share. A very important lesson as it pertains to getting in tune with your body, listening to body, as it relates to your nutrition. I totally agree with him in that, your body and your food will start to speak to you………………………
The following is Harry's article…..In our society we've been taught to carefully observe almost anything that is of importance to us for the most part. What most people have not learned to do is to observe how they feel and how their body reacts to the foods they eat. (more…)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________When I first started my eating 'Revolution' back in 2005. Popcorn was the first thing I stopped eating. Genetically modified corn, margarine (a.k.a. 'yellow plastic'), toxic table salt, who knows what artificial ingredients at the movie theater, my Cinema treat was gone forever. Or so I thought…………..
However, by longtime friend, Harry, a fellow nutritional revolutionary, mentioned he and his family enjoy popcorn all the time. When he told me his healthy ingredients, and bragged about the taste (as he always does), I thought that the time had come to 'Flip the Script' and bring back popcorn, bigger, badder, healthier, and tastier. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________I am still addressing the "Gluten Free and Grain Free" movements (currently by using papaya enzymes to digest gluten and grains), as they relate to my own health and wellness, but in the mean time, I am still enjoying an occasional slice of pizza at Whole Foods………..with no guilt.
One of my ongoing treats is the Pizza Oven at Whole Foods Markets. They are made by hand with very wholesome and healthy ingredients. (more…)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________While at work, a co-worker and fellow sports fan casually mentioned that ex-NBA ball player Armen Gilliam, dropped dead of a heart attack while playing a game of ball. Being around the same age as Gilliam, pushing 50, I asked myself, with all the eggs I eat, could I possibly be vulnerable to something like that happening to me so suddenly and unexpectedly?
Although I am still a poultry and fish eater, for personal reasons I am gradually decreasing (not eliminating) my intake of chicken. I will probably always eat some chicken but my system tells me eggs are a better way to go on a daily basis for me. (more…)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________Although French Fries has always been on that list of unhealthy fast foods that we should avoid, and very few can resist their temptations, most don't realize that it's pretty simple to turn them into a heart healthy treat that can even help lose weight. And trust me when I say, the new taste will blow you away and you will never go back. Why would you need to?
The problem with French Fries as with most foods we consume is the oils and salts are unhealthy. The good news is that they can be replaced by alternatives that are much tastier and healthier. (more…)
