“Music is the Best Medicine” (…..a.k.a., “The Soundtrack of My Life”) Track #15: My “Lenny Kravitz Medley”

So, like, ummmm,  even though I’ve already done 2 Lenny Kravitz songs in my so called “Soundtrack Of My Life”…..

…I still have some “work” left to do with Lenny, since I still got a bunch of his songs on my long list of 350+ songs I wanna do.

And since my long list is growing and growing, I’m may never get to all these songs……

But I like how I approached it with “My Sade Medley” …..

…that being, to string several songs together to create a medley.

So, I’m gonna try that medley thing again with Lenny…..

…to get some of these Lenny Kravitz songs off my “inventory”.

I’ve been finding Lenny more interesting as time has gone on.

Though, no offense Lenny, but back in the 90’s, he struck me as your typical Rock Star….

…he always talked like he was strung out, or had a hangover (both he and Prince were painful to hear in those early interviews)….

Now, he’s health and nutrition conscious, he speaks down-to-earth wisdom, a really inspiring over 50 brotha’…..

One of my fav Lenny quotes that also defines how I think and live…

“That last 25 years was an amazing education for me, and the next 25 are gonna be something else” !!!! -Lenny Kravitz

..birds of a feather I guess. Us old school “Rockers” have to stick together. 🙂

ENJOY!!!!!

Hi Doug,

I am just checking to see how you are doing. I haven’t received any new post from the blog. Just wanted to make sure you are doing ok.

Hi Lory,

Yeah I’m doing fine and dandy. And you’re correct I haven’t put out much lately on the website. I was on a little bit of a hiatus because I’m been putting out stuff for ten straight years. I do have a couple of things I wanna post about about, but have been all immersed in some other work related activities (I’m and IT guy), I’m learning some new software, and have had to spend a few months in self-training. I even had to put a halt on working on my next song, and I sure hate doing that, because I love working on music for hobby and fun.

Then there is this whole issue of the “powers that be”, Google and the likes, they are censoring my site (as they are a lot of other independent holistic websites), they just don’t want people getting beyond that trillion dollar medical industry and healing ourselves. And they don’t want Black people spreading info on how to keep ourselves healthy. But that’s a whole other story. They’ve cut my readership, its dropped about dropped 80% over the past few years, whomever controls Google and the internet have to power to control what information gets read on the web. You’ll be surprised.

I actually got discouraged last year and considered shutting the site down, but a several Black people told me not to do that, and I agreed, because I’ve got good info out there, and even though they are censoring me, I do have a small but devoted following of mostly Black people that wanna get some good not-for-profit info on health and wellness, as well as a fun web experience, and just a place where Black people can go and feel comfortable about the Black imagery they see. Plus I love my site, so no way will I shut down. But it’s a shame how they do black people trying to better our lives.

I think I was upset because I wanted to be the Hip-Hop health Guru with a gazillion followers, and a million “likes”, but it’s apparent after ten years that ain’t gonna happen, but I’m cool with that now, like everyone on the internet, you want a lot of followers, but if you are lucky, you stop worrying about the followers and just worry about expressing yourself and your passions. Same with me and my music, I just like making it, I know I’m not getting a lot of “hits”, but that’s fine, that won’t stop me from making it, the experience of making a song is too personally fulfilling for to be concerned about internet popularity. I’m satisfied with the one or two people that write me every month and tell me how I have affected their health and wellness in a positive way. One sister told the problem with my site is it is “too good”. But when i got into writing those articles about black babies and vaccines and autism, they kinda tried to shut down my internet circulation.

But hey, on the plus side, like I said, like clockwork, every month someone like you writes and shows me that internet-love for what I do, and I’m always flattered 🙂

…sorry for getting “long winded”, but that’s me sometimes .

Stay happy and Healthy
Doug Wallace
