“In slow-motion I’m reborn,
I need a week to mow the lawn,
I eat dinner with my flip-flops on, now that the summer’s here”
-Michael Franks (from the song “Now that the Summer’s Here”)
As much as I enjoy my HGTV style presentations of “Cool Cribs” and Custom Outdoor Kitchens and all that, major life changing events will sometimes have one take a step back…..
…….and appreciate what you have in the here and now.

I have what I consider a very generic “cookie cutter” studio in Seattle at Fountain Court Apartments, but I lucked out when I moved to town, because they by chance had available one of the coveted 6 [of 350 total] units that open up out to this vast terrace space.
Such a change from my past studios in recent years, that were so claustrophobic, not giving me room to “breathe”.
This outdoor area wasn’t built when I moved in, and my crib just sat here cause I was back down in Portland working for 1.5 years, but, now that I work from home, I’m glad I kept it, it’s actually a nice little inexpensive spot….should hold me until I get to work from home in Hawaii 🙂
(I’m always trippin’ on how no one is ever out here) Anyhooz, let me see if I can “HGTV-up” my own little corner of the world, in this “Dressed to Grill” segment.

The Healthy Chef’s “healthy morsel”: For recipe above, I hate when they list “vegetable oil” in any recipe. NEVER NEVER use Crisco, Wesson, or that poison Canola Oil, all you ever need is Olive oil and Coconut Oil to cook with. For recipe below, I avoid Commercial Beef like the plague, I get Grass Fed from Whole Foods or Farmer’s Markets, and use Papaya Enzymes to help digest beef.

The Healthy Chef’s “healthy morsel”: I still love a good dog a few times a year but go out of my way for quality ingredients such as 1) replace regular hotdogs for Whole Foods turkey sausages or Vital Choice Free-Range Bison Hotdogs 2) Quality Bread {example here} 3) make my own homemade ketchup and BBQ sauce , and Mayo 4) Grass Fed Cheese 5) Organic Veggies

The Healthy Chef’s “healthy morsel”: Once again, for recipe above, I hate when they list “vegetable oil” in any recipe. NEVER NEVER use Crisco, Wesson, or that poison Canola Oil, all you ever need is Olive oil and Coconut Oil to cook with. For recipe below, with a pasture raised chicken and organic ingredients, it is perfectly healthy as is.

(below) my fav’ smooth Italian beer, Peroni. I only drink a few beers a year, and for whatever reason I only want one when I’m barbecuing. Beer for me is like romance, may only go there every blue moon 🙁 , but the advantage to that is, you savor and enjoy it that much more……yep 🙂
(below) … a great find I ran across on Amazon for under two hundred. Very sturdy and VERY comfortable. Rocks me to sleep 🙂
(below) “Yeah Baby, I grew up the hard way, but I kept pushing ahead, you feel me…..”
Sorry, just practicing cool lines to say to women while sipping hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks at the outdoor fireplace 🙂
The Student: “Teacher, you are an old man, but still have the complexion of a boy, how is that possible” ?
The Teacher (Lao Tze): “I became acquainted with The Tao (The Way of Heaven) “
Michael Franks: “Now that the Summer’s Here”
ENJOY!!! ….and remember this summer, life is short, so Eat, Pray, Love 🙂
