I actually stayed on Scrub Island, a small private island in the British Virgin Islands, at the upscale Scrub Island Resort, also home of the home to the "beyond unique", the so called "house with no walls" named Wali Nikiti.
I wrote a couple of posts about that amazing stay, one called "My Island, Scrub Island", another called "Breezin' My Perfect Caribbean Breakfast" and still another called the
Quest for Organic Produce in the BVI.
I got to see the Wali Nikiti house up close and even got to meet the owner, Master Chef Davide Pugliese, head Chef at the Scrub Island Resort where I was staying. Upon meeting, he asked me, I'm sure just to see how I'd answer the question, "So what do you think of my house?….. be honest".
I gave him my truthful answer, just to see how he would react "It's hard to put into words, but, let's just say, it is totally not my style, but I totally love it, I love to observe other people's unique expressions". He looked, smiled, and said "Sit down, let me buy you a drink"……..

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel": This recipe I ran across, using organic ingredients and wild caught seafood (avoid farm raised shrimp) is perfectly healthy as is. I'd recommend drizzling with the amazingly healthy, amazingly tasty, Culinary Argan Oil

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel": This recipe contains papaya and coconut. It's a shame more people aren't aware that papaya and coconut are two of the underrated, healthy foods known to man, just sitting there in the fruit section begging to be used.

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel": Substitute the brown sugar in this recipe with healthy Coconut Palm Sugar. I try to avoid commercial soy sauce and go with fermented soy sauce or leave it out altogether. Most authentic Jerk Chicken recipes don't require Soy Sauce.

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel": I'd use Manuka Honey instead of the simple syrup in the recipe, or at least replace the sugar with healthy Coconut Palm Sugar

…….about the crib
Situated "handsomely" overlooking remote North Beach on Scrub Island, in the British Virgin Islands chain, the Wali Nikiti house is a rustic, but upscale retreat of world renowned Master Chef Davide Pugliese
The heart of Wali Nikiti is the custom designed kitchen specifically built to demonstrate, instruct, and invite guest participation in the art of cooking. The culinary hub features a center island with a professional stove, a wood burning oven and a country fireplace for creating wood grilled dishes. Freshly prepared dishes can be served in the covered dining area or in the al fresco eating area, just across from the 20’ x 10’ pool and wooden deck area.
The large built-in concrete Couch, covered in comfortable pillows and flanked by Moroccan tea tables creates an area of relaxation and tranquility, and if lucky, in the winter, a little whale watching.
The entire house is designed in natural earth tones with hardwood featuring as the dominant building material. Ethnic objets d’art feature as the decorative element. Each bedroom has a private outside shower and garden area.
To address stormy weather, the architects devised a trampoline-like material (you can see it in the third picture below) that can be put up during storms to ward off 90% of wind and rains.
Unusual detailing throughout Wali Nikiti combines to create a unique living space: From a counter top embedded with segments of fiber-optic lit colored glass to the gentle waterfall that cascades into the dining area, to the bright and vibrant hieroglyphic style wall paintings, provoking the feel of the art of a lost Polynesian Island culture.
The house is available for custom vacations and photo shoots.
