Popsicle Toes!!! (Part 2) Tequila-Spiked Mango Popsicles with Chile

Popsicle Toes?….just a song by my boy Michael Franks (song below), with a subtle, playful, sexual innuendo.

I only got to do this once a few years back, but I find it a cool thing when a dude is chilling out with a girl on an "at home" date, watching one of her favorite movies like "Pride and Prejudice" (my movie review here) and having a surprise treat for after dinner movie watching.

I keep going back to a crude but funny Humphrey Bogart  line from a movie, when he was trying to get an engine to start and it needed to be fed some gas…..he said, "An engine is like a woman………you don't feed them, they don't do nothing"

…..I would suggest feeding them these Tequila-Spiked Mango Popsicles with Chile

Tequila-Spiked Mango Popsicles with Chile

(makes @10 popsicles)

3 cups chopped organic mango
3 oz organic lime juice
1-2 oz
manuka honey
(the original recipe called for agave, but I don't recommend agave because it can contribute to gaining weight…read more on agave here)

3 oz water
pinch of
Pink Himalayan Salt (AVOID COMMON TABLE SALT!!!!)
chile powder for garnish

3 1/2 oz tequila
(if you are not into alcoholic, at least take an eyedropper and add a few drops of tequila, try that before going "virgin")

Use mangoes that are ripe and soft to the touch.

Chop the mango. I like cutting large slices on either side of the pit and cubing the fruit so that it releases easily from the peel.

I like to use food prep gloves when handling mangoes.

Add the mango to the blender.

Add the lime juice, manuka honey, water, salt, and tequila to the blender.

Puree the mixture until smooth.

Pour the puree into the popsicle molds.

F.Y.I., I prefer Stainless Steel Molds, you can get stainless steel popsicle molds at amazon (or alternately, glass molds)

Place the tray in the freezer.

After approximately one hour, add the popsicle sticks. Freeze until solid.

Once frozen, release the popsicles by running them under warm water for a few seconds.

Dip the popsicles in chile powder to garnish.

That’s all there is to it! Easy Peezie!!! . .

Michael Franks – Popsicle Toes

You know how I sling it on my blog, any excuse to play one of my favorite songs.

Although "Popsicle Toes" was on his first album "The Art of Tea", long before his sound got that soulful groove, I still love "kid at heart" playfulness of the track, with the adult innuendo underneath.

Found this on YouTube, check it out if so inclined, otherwise thanks for stopping by.
