“Flip the Script” on the “All American” breakfast

For non-vegetarians who know of the quality of grass fed meats pasture raised poultry and eggs, we instinctively know that the "All American" breakfast doesn't have to be as unhealthy as perceived. Like most other foods and meals, it can be enjoyed and contribute to health and wellness, once we remove those unhealthy ingredients.

Maca, a great coffee substitute, from a lesser known Super-duper food everyone over 40 should know about.

If you are over 40 and never heard of Maca, it's worth 10 minutes of your life to look up maca's health benefits. Lab rat tests for "red maca" suggests it can possibly help shrink the size of prostate in men, and help women with PMS and menopause symptoms, and much more. My personal experience […]

Make your own healthy delicious barbecue sauce!!!!

The reason I say it this way is that there is too much high fructose corn syrup and refined sweeteners in barbecue sauces and ketchups, and it all contributes to childhood (and adult) obesity. It all adds up as we consume ketchup, barbecue sauce and the like all day every day. I think making your […]

Healing my back problems from watching an Earthquake Documentary

Back problems plagued me about a decade ago, supposedly from a bulging disk. I would work on strengthening by back at the health club via back extension exercises, where you bend the torso and straighten the body while suspended horizontally. It helped some, but stiffness hung around for years. But I had an epiphany as […]

Himalayan Salt Sole, Nature’s Gatorade

This is a quick follow up article for workout and exercise fanatics, from an article I recently wrote on why Pink Himalayan Salt is superior to Sea Salt. I wanted to write a quick something to emphasize the benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt Sole as a sports drink that has done wonders for me in […]

The Chocolate Project: making chocolate our friend, not our enemy

I consume chocolate everyday as part of my Power Smoothies. However, my chocolate is in the form of Organic Raw Cacao nibs. Eaten by itself, you'll find raw cacao to be unenjoyably bitter. In trying to get more friends and family into healthy eating. I decided to go out and research how to utilize the […]

The World is my Pantry

Looking in my pantry this morning to make my daily morning Power Smoothie, and everything I am gonna take into my body throughout the day, it occurred to me that my pantry contains foods from all over the globe. The significance of that to me is that the Earth, being a Gaia System,  has evolved […]

Has anyone ever tried the Squirrel GMO test?

I posted a video at the bottom of this post because I have been hearing and reading so much lately about the premise that animals won't, given a choice, eat genetically modified foods. I don't live in an area where I could try this experiment, but I'm sure a lot of health conscious eaters might […]

Why I Think Pink Himalayan Salt is Superior to Sea Salt

Read my comments at the bottom pertaining to the popular question, ‘Is Pink Himalayan Salt a Scam?’ Talking “healthy eating talk” to a co-worker a while back, I mentioned Pink Himalayan Salt which he never heard of. He said that he uses sea salt, and then asked me why is that I think Pink Himalayan […]

The Pancake Project: engineering a better pancake

In the Chef's Corner, I don't run from a food challenge. My healthy eating perspective, is the opposite of many health gurus, in that they seem to want to force people to stop eating what they like, or to create these strange creations that are totally foreign to your eating habits, you know, like tofu […]

Millet Pancakes

When tackling "The Pancake Project", I think this is the most important creation, because of my personal belief of the health benefits of millet. In the spirit of always trying to express what I've learned about the health benefits of foods, but not overwhelm anyone and detract from the sports of cooking and eating, I […]

Oat Pumpkin Pancakes

With my "Pancake Project", I am amazed by the options that are available to healthy non-vegans such as myself, who are as concerned as much with taste and the enjoyment of eating as we are about healthy. Once again I have a recipe that I ran across that is currently in it's "development" stage but […]

The 3 ingredient, Almond Butter Pancakes (add your optional toppings, grain free)

In my quest for the better pancake, I ran across thus recipe and I am trying it for myself because of it's simplicity. When I find a recipe such as this, I use it as a baseline for future additions and changes that I like to make for my own preferences. For me, simplicity is […]

Mastering frozen Salmon through the “quick thaw”

To me, it is more of a medicine than a food, but as a food it is such a tasty treat that I consume almost every day. Living up here in the Great Northwest in Portland, Oregon, I find myself in many ways closer to this health powerhouse. Though fresh salmon is in abundant supply […]

Fennel: the solution to an (ahem…) embarrassing problem

UPDATE!!  Fennel is great and I will continue to consume it, but it seems papaya fruit and papain (the powdered enzyme from papaya) are much more effective in dealing with my flatulence. To read my papya article,  go here Along with today's current powderkeg issues with Iran, North Korea, Terrorism, a failing economy, The "Occupy […]

The “Happy List”, a.k.a. “Short Story Long”

She said she sat down and put together her "Happy List", the things that would make her happy. She said it was interesting […]

The Apple Core: One man’s trash is another man’s cancer prevention.

The heated, or shall I say EXTREMELY HEATED, debate over vitamin B17 being the solution to effective cancer prevention, (just as vitamin C was the solution to scurvy disease a few hundred years ago) will rage on for decades I am sure, but for those who know instinctively that there might be some truth to […]
