My mind drifts down to the islands today, as it does most days, to a small, upscale island in the southern Caribbean named Mustique.
Mustique is a 1400 acre island within the chain of islands that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines, down in the southern Caribbean. The interesting thing about this island is that it really doesn't have a native population, just a hundred or so beyond upscale villas, each uniquely designed, in the ultimate tropical private island setting.

Mustique was I think my first "Wanderlust" destination, back from when that guy Robin Leach did an expose' on the island on that show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". I was hooked to upscale Caribbean ever since. Barefoot elegance I call it.

This entry in my growing "Wanderlust Food Diaries" section of the blog makes me want to put together something somewhat spicy with a bit of a sophisticated tropical flare, for that ultimate sophisticated island of Mustique. As always, for me, I prefer my creations only to look like a grand production, but in reality be simple to make. I found a great recipe from a blog called Caribbean Pot (see my sidebar within my blog pages) for Curry Shrimp. I gotta run over to Whole Foods here in Portland Oregon, grab my fresh organic ingredients, and I'm good to go. Ya Mon!!!!!

I learned over the years that, I'm really not dying to live in the tropics to impress the babes, or flaunt my 'anticipated' wealth, and so forth, because if so, I suppose I would be looking to move to South Beach, you know, all up in the hype. Like most people, I like a few of the finer things in life, but I got good mental and spiritual Zen "balance" with all that stuff. I do think however, a quiet location such as Mustique or any other private Caribbean community, would work for me.

If I would be flaunting anything, methinks I would be flaunting to Mother Nature my having mastered my whole concept of the "modern man" going "back to nature" in a tropical environment. I would flaunt to her the ease in which man can get back in tune with nature, that is, preparing food from the bounty of my own organic orchard, healing myself with fresh herbs, enjoying the tropical beauty all year round, you feel me, taking advantage of all that Mother Nature has to offer us. Hmmmmmm, I think Mother Nature would be impressed. ~dw~
