UnderArmour: “I Will What I Want” –Sloane Stephens

"You fight and fight. Get every ball back, run every ball down and never, ever doubt."
–Sloane Stephens

Up and coming Professional Tennis star Sloane Stevens is approaching age 22 in 2015, and her quote above tells me Ms. Stephens knows tennis, and knows about the "bigger game" we're all playing.

Sloane is one of the "Front Women" for the Under Armour "I Will What I Want" campaign.

Under Armour "I Will What I Want" ?

According to Under Armour, "…..it’s a reminder that you don't need permission, advice, or affirmation when you have WILL."

"It’s a celebration of who you are. As an athlete. As a woman".

She started playing tennis at the age of nine where her mother and stepfather introduced her to the sport.

Her father John Stephens was a professional Football player who was killed in a car accident.  Stephens relocated from Fresno to Boca Raton, Florida, where she began training at the prestigious Evert Tennis Academy.

She is one of those "young people" who amaze me, because, though I am a pretty bright guy (so says me), I don't remember talking so fluidly and intelligently when I was 21 years old.

I only remember acting like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air at age 21 {painful chuckle}.

I'm always loving to observe young African Americans throwing out that type of positive energy and motivation to other young people to take a positive path.

A few of Sloane's quotes from the Under Armour video below, she's not acting, she's speaking from the heart…..I can tell !

"Everyone has an opinion, everyone feels like they should be your coach,
everyone feels like they know what's best for you."  –Sloane Stephens

"Making the commitment to do what I love is the best thing" –Sloane Stephens

"They will rip you apart if you let them get to you, you lose sight of everything that is inside of you." –Sloane Stephens

"You just gotta DO YOU, focus on yourself, be proud of what you are doing." –Sloane Stephens

"The mental game is a huge part of tennis" –Sloane Stephens

"You wanna be 'bad ass', you wanna be beautiful, you wanna be strong, you wanna be encouraging, you wanna stay motivated, that's always tough." –Sloane Stephens

"I love tennis , I enjoy having to step up and just work hard everyday
and compete week in and week out." –Sloane Stephens

"I will what I want"
