“Easy Peezie” Healthy Flavored Grass Fed Butters, for “Butter Believers”

If you follow my blog, you already know that I don't touch any dairy that doesn't come from grass fed animals.

For the "eggheads" amongst you who wanna hear my theory on why grass fed is so much healthier than commercial dairy, read here.

Anyhooz, health nuts like myself know  that real butter, eggs, and dairy are not [inherently] bad for you, and once empowered with that information, you can start doing some great things with real foods from animals raised in the traditional way. These flavored butter should illustrate the point…..

black pepper strawberry butter

1/2 pint organic strawberries (about 5 to 7 strawberries), stems trimmed

1 stick of grass fed butter, room temperature
(I TOTALLY AVOID COMMERCIAL BUTTER, you can find grass fed at Whole Foods, you might have to ask which dairy is grass fed, or you have grass fed dairy in your area from companies like Natural By Nature Grass Fed Dairy)

 

1/4 teaspoon organic coarse ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Pink Himalayan Salt or alternately, Celtic Sea Salt (AVOID COMMON TABLE SALT!!!)
2 tablespoons
Manuka Honey (healthiest Honey in the world), list of fake honeys here

directions for black pepper strawberry butter

 In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries until very smooth. Run the purée through a strainer and discard the pulp. It should measure out to be a little over 1/4 cup of puree. Season with salt and pepper.

In a medium bowl, add the butter, honey and 2 tablespoons of puree. (We’re going to incorporate this slowly.) Using a hand-mixer or a stand-up mixer, beat until smooth. At first the mixture will separate but the more you beat the butter, the more it’ll come together.

Once it’s combined, add an additional 1 tablespoon at a time, adding about 3 more tablespoons. This will total to be about 1/4 cup, plus 1 tablespoon. Give it a taste and add a bit more honey or salt, if you like.

 Serve at room temperature, if you like, or you can transfer it to the refrigerator until you’re ready to use it.
Yields a bit more than 1/2 cup butter
