Home Cookin’ !!! …Hacienda Heaven!! down in Mexico (“It sounds so sweet, with the sun sinking low” –James Taylor)

On the Menu:
Chipotle Wings
Tequila and Lime Marinated [Grass Fed] Steak
Chorizo con Papas (Mexican Potatoes and Chorizo)

Anyone looking for traditional, authentic Mexican architecture and cuisine might find this post a little "anti-climatic".

I'm only obligated to be authentic to my "mind's eye", and my individual soul.

Which is why I posted this amazing villa that provoked my "mind's eye", in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico…and some arguably "not so authentic", South of the Border recipes……

(below) chorizo con papas (mexican potatoes and chorizo)

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel":  I'm not opposed to pork persay, but I don't consume a lot of it (maybe a few strips of bacon a year on a restaurant sandwich. I like to finely dice Whole Foods spicy turkey sausage and substitute for any Chorizo recipes. I do reserve the right to eat Chorizo when the mood hits me every year or two 🙂

tequila and lime marinated [grass fed] steak

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel":  I avoid commercial beef like the plague, but I'm a big fan of Grass Fed Beef (Whole Foods has it). Though I'm technically gluten free, I will bend a little on an occasional treat a few times a year with no guilt.

chipotle wings

The Healthy Chef's "healthy morsel":  I eat pasture raised chickens. Whole Foods has them.

James Taylor: "Mexico"

……the best "Non-Authentic" Mexico song ever!!! ………Enjoy!!!

…..about the crib

This spacious 4,500 square foot courtyard home designed by San Francisco – based House + House Architects is located in the beautiful colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Nestled into the quiet middle of a block in the historic center of the beautiful colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, this spacious 4,500 square foot courtyard home is accessed through lush gardens with trickling fountains and a luminous lap-pool.

The living, dining, kitchen, library and master suite on the ground floor open onto a series of plant filled patios that flood each space with light that changes throughout the day. Elliptical domes and hewn wooden beams sculpt the ceilings, reflecting soft colors onto curving walls.

A long, narrow stairway wrapped with windows and skylights is a serene connection to the second floor ”Moroccan’ inspired suite with domed fireplace and hand-sculpted tub, and “French Country” inspired suite with a sunny balcony and oval shower.

A curving bridge flies through the high living room with sparkling glass railings and overlooks onto sensuously shaped built in sofas.

At the third floor windows wrap every space with balconies, light and views, linking indoors to the distant mountains, the morning sun and the bubbling jacuzzi. At the rooftop terrace domes and chimneys join the cozy seating for intimate gatherings.
